Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan has divided fans once again with a candid red carpet appearance, which saw her slam traditional British foods such as pickled eggs and pork pies.

British food is just no laughing matter for Ryan, who previously sparked controversy by revealing her list of 'unacceptable' UK delicacies.

'I dislike the perplexity of putting everything [in] a pastry or a pie,' she told Richard Eden at the Bafta Nominees' party at the V&A museum in London.

'The war is over and it doesn't have to be leftovers any more — you're a real booming economy,' says the star of Channel 4 hit 8 Out Of 10 Cats, who moved to the UK in 2008.

The 40-year-old adds: 'You don't have to pretend that we still just have leavened flour.

Katherine Ryan, 40, told the Mail's Richard Eden she doesn't understand the British obsession with putting everything in a pie

'I don't like British food, and [Britons] don't like their spice, which hurts my spirit.

'I don't like sausage rolls, I don't see the need to pickle an egg — there are loads of fermented foods like kimchi.

'We're citizens of the world, there is multiculturalism from foods that you can enjoy.'

In a similar complaint last year, Ryan told journalists on the TV Choice Awards red carpet she has a list of 'unacceptable' foods, including bread sauce, 'all the chutneys', and Yorkshire puddings.

Despite previously being vegetarian, she said she is 'warming' to pigs in blankets since marrying her partner, Bobby Koostra.

But perhaps her most controversial opinion pertains to a certain green vegetable: 'I love sprouts,' she told reporters, adding: 'And I love cabbage, I put chestnuts in it.'

As well as being a stand-up comedian appearing on shows such as QI and Have I Got News For You, Ryan is also well-known for television programmes such as Duchess and Meet the Richardsons

The comedian appeared at last night's event in a sheer dress which had layers of ruffles on the full length skirt and an intricate beaded design.

As well as being a stand-up comedian appearing on shows such as QI and Have I Got News For You, Ryan is also well-known for television programmes such as Duchess and Meet the Richardsons.

Fans know her as much for her glamourous looks and outfits as they do for her outspoken nature on everything British.

She was joined by a host of actors, comedians and other celebrities including the likes of Love Island star Amy Hart and Ellie Simmonds.

The BAFTA TV Nominees Party comes ahead of the final ceremony on Sunday, May 12.

Netflix has again been nominated in top categories including Best Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress.
