Newly drafted Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels had to promise something in order to get his hands on the No. 5 jersey that he wants to wear.

That's because it already belonged to the team's punter, Tress Way - meaning Daniels would have to find some way to compensate him.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Daniels 'plans to send Way and his family to an Oklahoma-LSU football game, presumably with good seats' once the punter ends his NFL career.

That matchup is about to become more common than it has in the past, with Oklahoma joining the Southeastern Conference starting this year.

Washington officially confirmed the jersey swap with images and video of Way talking about the transition with a No. 5 Daniels jersey behind him.

'I understand that there's been a little bit of hype going on about a certain number,' Way said, standing in front of Daniels' locker with his new jersey hanging in it.

'Maybe you could take a look around, maybe a little bit behind me you'll see if there's any big news,' Way continued before turning the camera to a smiling Daniels.

As for what number the punter will wear in place of No. 5, Way says that he's still weighing his options.
