Almost 24 hours on from Ingrid Andress' disaster in Texas, MLB fans heaped praise on Cody Johnson for delivering a pitch-perfect rendition of the US national anthem before Tuesday night's All-Star Game.

Johnson performed the Star Spangled Banner at Arlington's Globe Life Field as the best players in Major League Baseball prepared to take part in this year's annual showpiece.

Yet as he took to the field, there were likely more eyes than usual on the American artist given his fellow country singer's nightmare at the Home Run Derby this week.

Andress, a four-time Grammy nominee, went viral on Monday after producing an off-key rendition of the national anthem which fans quickly labelled one of the worst of all time.

Earlier on Tuesday the 32-year-old took to social media to claim she was 'drunk' on the night and is now checking herself into a rehab facility as a result.

Johnson's performance, however, went much more smoothly as the singer and songwriter was lauded by fans online for 'crushing' his version of the anthem.

One wrote: 'Now that’s how you sing a national anthem. Well done!'

Another commented: 'Cody Johnson redeemed the anthem tonight'.

'Goosebumps @codyjohnson well done bro! Now that’s how it’s done,' said a third.

'Not that the bar was set very high, but Cody Johnson absolutely CRUSHED the National Anthem,' a fourth user posted.

Another put: 'And that is how a national anthem is done!!! Absolutely amazing by Cody Johnson!!'

While one simply wrote: 'Yes. Cody Johnson. Yes.'

In her statement on Tuesday, Andress apologized to fans and vowed to seek help after going viral for the wrong reasons at the Home Run Derby.

Johnson received glowing praise on social media after his version of the anthem on Tuesday

'I'm not gonna bulls**t y'all, I was drunk last night,' she said. 'I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night.

'I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.'

However, at the end of her statement she made a bizarre comment about heading to the facility when she put: 'I'll let y'all know how rehab is. I hear it's super fun'.

While the remark was likely just a sarcastic joke, a number of users took to social media to urge Andress not to make light of her situation while highlighting the seriousness of rehab.

'Glad you are owning up to your problem and getting help. But rehab isn’t “super fun",' one wrote on X. 'I’ve been to rehab. It isn’t fun: you have learn new emotions and how to handle it in real life'.

Another put: 'In all fairness, saying “I hear rehab is super fun” downplays people who take it very seriously when they have a problem with alcohol.'

While a third said: 'Rehab is not “super fun”. Those who need it (for real, not to save their celebrity) usually go through a medically induced detox followed by several weeks of VERY tough self reflection and introspection. If you really have a problem, God Bless You and hope you get better soon.'

Fellow musicians, meanwhile, flooded the comments section with support for Andress, with Julia Michaels writing: 'Love you girl. I’m sorry you’re going through this And I’m sorry the world can be so cruel. Here for you xx.'

Carly Pearce also chimed in: 'I’m sending you love, Ingrid. Being this open takes a lot. You’ve got this. Hang in there.'
