A couple have started legal action against former Welsh rugby star turned celebrity tailor, Nathan Palmer, after they received ill-fitting clothes on their wedding day.

Nathan Palmer, who previously played rugby for Wales and is now a tailor, allegedly made wedding clothes that didn't fit for couple Jamie and Nathan Sussex-Smith.

The pair apparently had to seek help from another tailor shortly before their big day.

A £10,353 County Court Judgement against Mr Palmer's business, Penarth Brands has been obtained, WalesOnline reported.

The Sussex-Smith's had allegedly been told by Mr Palmer that he would be making the bridal parties' outfits.

He owns Nathan Palmer Bespoke Tailors and has made clothes for Ian Wright, H from Steps and Aston Merrygold - the couple say his reputation made him appealing to them.

However, questions were raised when the couple found a Vietnamese tailor's business card inside a dress.

The couple had paid Mr Palmer to make five dresses and two suits six months before their wedding in August last year.

Jamie Sussex-Smith told WalesOnline: 'He was very excited, we offered pictures of what style we were looking at.

'He offered to create them from those designs with additional bespoke parts to show off each girl's individuality.

'Our female entourage were all different ages and sizes so it was extremely important to us that they felt amazing and it wasn't just an off the rack kind of dress and this is obviously why we went to him.'

Mr Palmer's website says it offers 'measure service, as well as a bespoke, hand made suit service'.

It also offers Nathan Palmer branded clothes including a T-Shirt for £34.99 and a hoodie for £69.99.

Prices for the bespoke tailoring service do not seem to be listed.

The couple sourced their own fabric after they did not like any of Mr Palmer's suggestions.

However, they claim it became difficult to contact the tailor as time went on and it was hard to arrange a meeting with him.

They claim they had their first fitting just weeks before their wedding.

A fitting of the female garments made by Mr Palmer also disappointed the Sussex-Smiths and they were presented to the couple in sealed plastic packaging which made them question if Mr Palmer had made them.

The dresses did not fit the women and the couple had to take them to another tailor to be altered.

They refused to arrange a final payment on the evening before the wedding day.

Mr and Mr Sussex-Smith have now gone on to take action against Mr Palmer and say he has ignored official letters and he has not acknowledged the case to them.

However, they say that their big day was not ruined by the tailoring chaos but are wanting compensation of the deposit which cost £1,922, £2,000 for damages, £1,500 for alterations and £1,600 in earnings lost and other expenses.

Mr Palmer declined to comment to WalesOnline.

MailOnline has contacted Mr Palmer for a response.
