Crystal Palace have poked fun at Nottingham Forest's statement following their win over West Ham.

Palace won 5-2 at home to West Ham having established a four-goal lead by the 20th minute.

After the game Palace couldn't resist poking fun at Forest, who had earlier issued a statement slamming 'poor decisions' in their 2-0 loss to Everton

Palace wrote: 'Five extremely good goals - two goals conceded - which we simply have to accept.

'#CPFC will now enjoy their Sunday.'

Forest were aggrieved at several refereeing decisions in their defeat to Everton and felt that they should have been awarded three penalties.

In their statement after the game, Forest claimed that VAR official Stuart Attwell is a fan of relegation rivals Luton Town.

Forest's statement read: 'Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept.

'We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn't change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.

'NFFC will now consider its options.'

Forest felt that they should have been awarded three penalties, with Ashley Young involved in all three incidents.

Young escaped punishment for challenges on Giovanni Reyna and Callum Hudson-Odoi, while it was also claimed that he handled the ball in the box but referee Anthony Taylor waved play on.

Gary Neville was heavily critical of Forest's statement, saying that it lets the club down.

Gary Neville criticised Nottingham Forest's 'horrendous statement' after losing to Everton

In a sensational statement, Forest claimed VAR official Stuart Attwell is a Luton Town fan

Neville said on Sky Sports: 'I just want to comment on that Nottingham Forest statement. It is horrendous statement by that football club. It lets the proud history of that club down, and the inferred cheating, suggesting the official is a Luton Town fan, is absolutely ridiculous.'

Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher labelled the statement as embarrassing.

Carragher said: 'It tells you where we are in the Premier League now, with the clubs. Stuart Attwell and Anthony Taylor have had a horrific day today, awful, and they should be rightly criticised for that. That could have real implications for Nottingham Forest. I get the frustrations.'

'But that, what I've just read there on social media, that's like a fan in a pub. That is embarrassing for Nottingham Forest. I get the frustrations, but that rubbish about the VAR is a Luton fan? You can't get involved in that. You've got to show a little bit of class if you are a football club. I get it, the frustration, the officials have had an awful day, terrible. But you can't get involved in that. It's nonsense!'.

Palace established a four-goal lead against West Ham, with Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze scoring prior to an Emerson own goal and a strike from Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Michail Antonio got a goal back for West Ham before Mateta netted again for Palace.

Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson scored a late own goal but the Eagles still managed to prevail with a 5-2 success.
