Dan Burn celebrated Newcastle's third goal against Tottenham using British Sign Language in a touching gesture to his side's deaf fans.

The Toon were wearing special shirts with the logo of Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) during Saturday's match after the club's sponsor Sela donated their usual sponsorship space to the charity.

As part of that collaboration, Newcastle defender Burn was taught sign language by a group of deaf supporters during the week.

And after Alexander Isak scored his second goal in the second half, Burn turned to the TV cameras and used BSL to sign: 'Love the fans.'

Magpies manager Eddie Howe said: 'Typical Dan - he didn't just learn that and forget it, he used it at a really valuable time to say thank you to the people that he met.

'It was a brilliant thing.

'It was a brilliant gesture by Sela to give their shirt sponsor to a brilliant charity.'

Burn crossed his hands, touched his chest and shook his fists before wheeling away, and the camera then cut to a group of delighted deaf supporters.

Newcastle's deaf fans were also given special 'haptic' jerseys, which used sensors to vibrate in response to crowd noises – allowing them to experience the atmosphere at St James' Park.

These cutting-edge kits were created through a partnership between Newcastle's kit sponsor Sela and the Royal National Institute for the Dead (RNID).

RNID's director for inclusion, Teri Devine, believes the technology could have a 'real and lasting impact' on how those who have hearing loss experience games.

Alexander Isak struck twice for Newcastle to hand them a crucial three points and broke the deadlock after cutting inside of Micky van de Ven and tucking home.

Seconds later, Anthony Gordon wriggled through after Pedro Porro's miscued clearance and bent an unstoppable effort beyond Guglielmo Vicario.

Isak notched his brace after breaking away from Van de Ven on the halfway line while Fabian Schar headed home from a corner to chalk up Newcastle's fourth.
