Daniil Medvedev lost his cool again during his last-16 defeat by Karen Khachanov at the Monte-Carlo Masters on Thursday.

After losing the first set 6-3, Medvedev was serving at 5-5 in the second and was 15-30 down when his opponent's shot was called in, even though he was adamant it was out.

That gave Khachanov two break points, and Medvedev produced an untimely double fault to concede the game. After misplacing his serve, the Russian world No4 could not contain his anger as he launched his racket towards the back board and stormed to his chair.

Medvedev was seething, and his mood did not improve when a physio came over to attend to him, despite the former US Open champion insisting he did not ask for medical treatment.

Looking up at the umpire, Carlos Bernardes, Medvedev questioned: 'What is he doing here?' while pointing at the physio.

He was furious that a line call had just gone against him and tossed his racket away

He then proceeded to rant at tennis official Cedric Mourier about the standard of the umpiring

'Did I ask for the physio?' he repeatedly asked in an aggressive manner.

He was then approached by another official, Cedric Mourier, who appeared to want to calm the situation down, but Medvedev kept venting his frustration.

'The [ball] mark is freaking out! They don't know how to referee anymore, the mark is out,' Medvedev told Mourier.

'Who will take action!? Yesterday, the ball is out, it's called in. Who will take action? This ball is out there. Who will take responsibility? It's not my responsibility to referee the match.'

Medvedev then turned personal as he pointed out a line judge and said: 'It's this guy in the glasses. He doesn't need glasses because he doesn't see anything. He should not be a referee.

'It's in front of him, it's a slow ball, it's 15-30 and five-all, he's a bad referee, he should be out of the referee circle.'

Medvedev continued in the match, but Khachanov took the next game on serve to wrap up a 6-3, 7-5 victory and move into the quarter-finals.

Medvedev's outburst came just a day after he launched another foul-mouthed tirade over the officiating at the tournament.

Once again, the 28-year-old was furious with a line call, and shouted at chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani: 'It's a freaking joke. It's out. How did I lose the game when it's out? It's out, it's out!' before grabbing hold of the canopy covering him and almost turning it over.

Medvedev then swore in a mix of English and his native Russian as he fumed at himself: 'F***ing s***'.

He vented his anger on multiple occasions during the match, and Sky Sports were forced to apologise for his language

Sky Sports commentator Jonathan Overend apologised for Medvedev's behaviour, stating: 'We obviously apologise for the language from Medvedev but we knew it was coming. We absolutely knew it was coming.

'The fact that he didn't say anything at the end of the game made us believe that he is really, really fuming about that call.

'Some of that behaviour from Medvedev was in danger of crossing the line for sure at the sit down.'

Medvedev was able to gather himself to get past Gael Monfils in that match, but was unable to get the better of Khachanov, and his controversial week in Monte-Carlo is now over.
