Darwin Nunez fuelled further speculation that he could leave the club in the summer after storming down the Anfield tunnel following Sunday's win over Tottenham.

The Uruguayan has endured a difficult second season at Liverpool and again failed to find the target in the 4-2 victory over Ange Postecoglou's visiting Spurs side.

Nunez has now gone six Premier League matches without scoring and failed to acknowledge jubilant Liverpool fans inside the ground that were revelling in the occassion of Jurgen Klopp's penultimate home game in charge.

The 24-year-old deleted photos of himself affiliated with Liverpool from his Instagram profile on Sunday evening, with new footage from the stadium showing him walking straight down the tunnel at full-time.

All that remains on Nunez' Instagram profile that boasts 4.2million followers are family pictures and snaps of the striker playing for former club Benfica and Uruguay.

Darwin Nunez angered Liverpool fans  after storming off the pitch following Sunday's win over Tottenham .

Nunez was left to make an impact from the bench against Spurs as his struggles in front of goal continued

The central striker started the game against Tottenham on the bench as Klopp opted for a three-pronged attack led by Dutch forward Cody Gakpo instead.

Nunez later made his introduction from the bench in the 75th minute as Klopp called on him to replace fatigues Colombian star Luis Dias.

His appearance on the field of play coincided with Tottenham's best patch of the game as they scored twice through Richarlison and captain Son Heung-min to reduce the deficit and set-up a nervy ending.

Meanwhile, Nunez wasted chances in front of goal that would have killed the game off and looked unhappy with himself in the immediate aftermath of the game.

Head down and refusing to look up to supporters in the stands, the South American made for the team dressing room while players shook hands on the pitch.

Liverpool supporters believe his recent actions point towards a summer transfer away from the club after Nunez was linked with a possible move to Barcelona.

Nunez is one of the best-paid players at Anfield but his wages - reported to be around £140,000-a-week - would still be significantly lower than what current Barcelona striker Lewandowski is currently earning.

'I don’t get it, is he annoyed that he hasn’t started a few games or is he annoyed that some people have been critical. Either way he needs to grow up,' said one Liverpool fan on X in response to Nunez walking off.

'Just shows wat an emotional guy he is and this is the problem when he’s on the pitch . His emotions get the better of him , he’s never relaxed . If he is to stay then the new manager needs to address this mentality,' added another.
