With the Stanley Cup Playoffs set, Dave Portnoy has put big money on a wager for the NHL crown.

On Friday, the Barstool Sports chief posted a screenshot of a wager that could turn his $150,000 bet into a $1.2million payout.

Portnoy has the Edmonton Oilers winning the Cup at +700 odds on DraftKings SportsBook. A win for the Oilers would not only mean their first title in the Connor McDavid era but will extend Portnoy's hot streak in sports betting.

So far in 2024, Portnoy has won $5.4m on future bets on some of the biggest sporting events.

Portnoy won $1.5m on New Year's Day after the Michigan Wolverines beat the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Washington Huskies upset the Texas Longhorns in January.

Dave Portnoy is attempting to extend his hot betting streak with a Stanley Cup wager

Portnoy's $150,000 wager on the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup can earn him $1.2million

Edmonton is one of three teams with the second-best odds to win the cup behind Carolina

The following month, he cashed in on another half-million payout when the Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years against the San Francisco 49ers.

Earlier in April, the self-proclaimed hottest gambler on the planet had an incredible week of betting. UConn's national championship win got him $2.1m before Scottie Scheffler's triumph at The Masters totaled his winnings to $3.45m.

'Guys I don't think people realize what we are witnessing,' Portnoy wrote on X after Scheffler secured the Green Jacket. 'To come into #themasters as the world's #1 and the hottest gambler on the planet.'

'To have a bullseye on your forehead and still win with ease? We may never see a 4 month stretch like this again. #eprestheallknowing'

Edmonton is tied with the Florida Panthers and the Colorado Avalanche with the second-best odds behind the Carolina Hurricanes (+650) in a wide-open race for the Stanley Cup.

The Oilers will kick off their opening-round series against the Los Angeles Kings at 10pm ET in Edmonton on Monday.
