Horrific footage has captured the moment a speeding motorbike rider miraculously survived a high-speed crash in Melbourne after a driver failed to give way.

The dashcam footage shows the motorbike rider passing cars at high speed before it was struck down by a grey 4WD at an intersection.

The T-bone accident pushed the rider from the middle lane of traffic to the far right lane, with the impact forcing him off his bike.

The rider struck a pole on the median strip, before bouncing back and landing on the road.

Although he was wearing a helmet, the rider wasn't wearing any protective clothing and was instead dressed in shorts and a grey hoodie.

Debris was seen strewn across the three-lane road, with the driver of the 4WD getting out of their car straight away to render assistance.

Aussie drivers were divided about who caused the accident.

'Both at fault, because unfortunately the car failed to give way and make sure they're in the clear and the biker, well, definitely failed at not speeding,' one wrote.

'The woman in the grey car is still at fault for failure to give way. Just because he was breaking one law, doesn't absolve her of breaking another,' another said.

'I ride, and I can honestly say say 100 per cent the riders's fault,' another wrote.

But many believed regardless of who was at fault, the motorbike rider was 'stupid' and had a 'death wish' for going so fast.

'Wow, now that is riding with a death wish and not a clue in the world! Have we got an education problem with riders?' one wrote.

One said: 'Play dumb games, win stupid prizes. I feel for the innocent road users'.

A second added: 'Lucky to walk away from that, can never predict what other drivers are going to do.'
