A man has allegedly led police on an 100km cross-border chase which ended when he jumped from a moving truck and swarmed by officers.

Police were alerted to reports of a truck allegedly driving dangerously on the Princes Highway in Bangalow, west of Byron Bay in northern NSW on Thursday.

The alleged driver, 27, allegedly didn't pull over when directed, sparking a pursuit through rural towns and across the Queensland border.

Queensland officers joined the pursuit which ended two hours later when the man allegedly jumped from the moving truck on the Pacific Motorway on Gold Coast and allegedly fled into nearby shrubbery.

The Queensland man was promptly arrested and taken to a police station where he is assisting officers with inquiries. No charges have been laid.

A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that the pursuit was called off after the truck exited the M1 onto Tweed Valley Way.

Highway Patrol and PolAir continued to monitor the truck as it allegedly sped through rural NSW before road spikes were used at two locations.

The truck continued on its northerly path and into the Sunshine State despite both front tyres being popped.

Queensland Police Senior Sergeant Brendan Wiblen said the alleged driver only abandoned the vehicle when it appears to have run out of fuel.

The man in high-vis can be seen in footage taken by Seven News jumping from the truck and running into nearby bushes lining the M1 before police took up chase on foot.

One officer was treated for a cut to his eye which he sustained while jumping a fence during in pursuit.

Senior Sergeant Brendan Wiblen said the alleged driver had 'tested his hand against the New South Wales and Queensland Police'.

He added the truck was driving in an 'extremely dangerous manner' and was 'causing crashes and causing risk of serious injury'.

'We know it struck at least four vehicles,' Senior Sergeant Wiblen told reporters.

'This was a highly motivated driver who was (allegedly) intent on causing harm to members of the public.

'We were fortunate to take him into custody without very serious injury.'

Police added that the man will be charged with 'a series of very serious driving offences'.
