The Edmonton Oilers held off a third-period comeback attempt from the Vancouver Canucks to win Game 7 of their all-Canadian Western Conference semifinal on Monday.

The Oilers advanced to their second Western Conference Final in three years. In 2022, Edmonton was swept in the NHL's final four by the eventual-champion Colorado Avalanche.

Edmonton was the only non-top seed to advance to the Western Conference Finals. They won Games 6 and 7 of the series to knock off their Pacific Division Rivals.

Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals is Thursday night in Dallas.

The Oilers never trailed on Monday night, having held a 3-0 lead deep into the third period.

The Canucks scored both of their goals in their final game of the season with less than nine minutes left in regulation.

With goaltender Arturs Silovs pulled, Vancouver did not get properly set with the extra man, allowing Edmonton to run out the clock on its season.

Edmonton has not won a Western Conference Finals game since 2006, when it advanced to the Stanley Cup final.

The Oilers are also Canada's last hope to break their championship drought in the country's most popular sport.

The last Canadian team to lift the Stanley Cup was the Montreal Canadiens to end the 1993 season.

No Canadian team has played in a Stanley Cup Final during a full NHL season since the Canucks in 2011-12.
