German outlet Bild have offered their scathing assessment of Bayer Leverkusen's performance in the Europa League final, with a scathing eight names picking up the worst grade possible.
Bayer Leverkusen's dream of an astounding unbeaten season across all competitions has at last come to an end at the penultimate hurdle, with the Italian side winning the final 3-0.
It looked set to be one of the final steps to immortality for the Bundesliga champions, but it was to be Charlton youth product Ademola Lookman's night for the spotlight, the forward netting all three goals.
It was somewhat poetic for Lookman to be the master of Leverkusen's demise given his own poor spell in Germany, scoring five goals in 24 games for RB Leipzig in four years, in a stint pock-marked by loan moves away from the club.
However, while Lookman had what might have been the greatest night of his career, it was one to forget for Leverkusen, who saw more than half of their side slammed with 5/5 ratings.

The German champions were poor on the night and picked up a huge eight 5/5 ratings from Bild
The German outlets ratings system works in the opposite manner to how you might expect, with 1/5 being the highest possible, and 5/5 being the worst.
As such, Bild dished out 5/5s to each of Piero Hincapie, Exequiel Palacios, Granit Xhaka, Alejandro Grimaldo, Florian Wirtz, Amine Adli, Victor Boniface and manager Xabi Alonso.
Alonso was managing his first ever final, and while he has come in for almost universal acclaim this term, he did not escape the poor reviews on Wesndesday.
'His first final as coach was one of the most bitter evenings in his young coaching career,' the German outlet said of his performance at the Aviva Stadium.
'For the first time this season, he was unable to find a way to turn a game around.'
Similarly, star of the Leverkusen show Wirtz - widely considered among the top attacking midfield talents in the world right now - was 'not a threat' during the game according to Bild.
He did however pick up credit for covering a team-high 6.46km in the first half, and it is suggested that this defeat will teach him an important lesson.
Former Arsenal star Xhaka was also criticised for his performance, with Bild pointing out it was his worst ever performance in terms of giving the ball away.

Granit Xhaka lost the ball five times in the first half - the most times in his short Leverkusen career
Florian Wirtz covered almost 6.5km in the first half but was 'not a threat' in the 3-0 defeat
'Twelve ball losses in the first half, a negative record for the Swiss in a Bayer jersey. He was unable to prevent Lookman from scoring to make it 0-2.'
Likewise, midfield partner Palacios put in 'an unusually weak performance', Hincapie made 'far too many mistakes', and Adli 'seemed totally over-motivated' in an all-round poor showing from a squad that has devoured all in their path this season.
In fact, no player received better than a 4/5, with Adam Hlozek receiving perhaps the best review, which simply stated: 'Good shot from distance that almost made it 1-3.'
Leverkusen still have a chance to go an entire domestic season unbeaten when they take on second-tier Kaiserslautern in the DFB Pokal final next week, but the chance to have taken an already special season into yet another stratosphere has now gone.
