Eight people have been found guilty in what is believed to be Scotland's largest child sex abuse ring trial.

Five men and three women were convicted today at the High Court in Glasgow of horrific crimes against four children under the age of 13, BBC reported. Sentencing will be held on January 4.

Two boys and two girls were 'violently and sexually' assaulted on multiple occasions between 2012 and 2019 by members of the ring, the court heard.

The paedophile gang caused the children to consume drugs and alcohol. They also used Class A drugs in front of them.

Seven of the 11 accused were found guilty of sex abuse, including rape, and four of attempted murder. Three people were acquitted.

Iain Owens, 45, Elaine Lannery, 39, Lesley Williams, 41, Paul Brannan, 41, Scott Forbes, 50, Barry Watson, 47, and John Clark, 46, were all found guilty of rape and sexual assault today, according to Sky News

Owens, Williams and Brannan were found guilty of drugs offences. The trio, as well as Lannery, were also found guilty of attempted murder.

Marianne Gallagher was convicted of assault, but cleared of other charges.

The trial, spanning two months, heard that regular 'child rape nights' and 'dog killing nights' were held in a Glasgow drugs den attended by heroin addicts, the High Court in Glasgow heard.

The group would regularly subject the victims to a campaign of abuse that included gang rapes. The court was told that older children were also forced to abuse the younger victims.

It was also claimed during the trial that money was exchanged following the sex acts.

Three child complainants made allegations that originally related to witchcraft but developed to include child sex abuse, including rape and attempted murder.

The charges related to causing the children to participate in witchcraft and seances were dropped during the trial.
