Erling Haaland has revealed the exact moment Manchester City knew they were going to win the Premier League title, and it was before the final day of the season.

City marched towards a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League crown at Arsenal's expense on Sunday as a comfortable 3-1 win over West Ham made sure the title stayed in Manchester.

Haaland failed to get on the scoresheet against the Hammers but ended the season with the golden boot award for the most Premier League goals after racing to 27 strikes in the competition.

The Norwegian has now enjoyed two glittering campaigns in English football since moving to City at the start of last season and was clearly confident during the run-in despite Arsenal's insistence on taking the title race to the final day.

City needed to beat Tottenham earlier in the week to avoid giving the advantage to Mikel Arteta's side and did so with a valiant 2-0 win on their trip to the capital.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou was left fuming as sections of his own fanbase cheered on City in a bid to stop rivals Arsenal being crowned Premier League champions, and Haaland explained the team knew they were going to win the title after that match.

'I think after we won at Spurs, we kinda knew we were going to do it,' he told Sky Sports amidst City's title celebrations.

'Being in the Premier League has been harder than expected. The way every game is like – it's not a final, but it's not far away.

'You can't relax after 45 minutes. Every game is so intense and tough.

'Pep demands a lot every day and if you don't live up to what he expects you're in big trouble. I love him to bits,' he added.

His prediction materialised rather comfortably as West Ham failed to muster any type of fight that Arsenal fans had been dreaming they would as City went on to become champions again.

Guardiola later hailed Haaland and his team-mates as the 'greatest' team ever to grace English football after winning a sixth top-flight title in seven years, with only Liverpool breaking up that run.

'A team has never done these numbers and this is the standard,' Guardiola said. 'This is what the opponents have to do to beat this generation of player.

'In terms of numbers, nobody has been better than us - the records, the goals, the points and four in a row. If I landed here tomorrow and you say I will win six Premier Leagues in seven years, I would ask if you were crazy.

'It's impossible. We have done something unbelievable,' he added.
