Everton have delivered an update on injured midfielder Dele Alli, as the Toffees announce they have offered their captain Seamus Coleman a deal to extend his contract by one year

The club have also confirmed a one-year contract extension has also been offered to Ashley Young following the conclusion of his current deal this summer

Meanwhile, the Toffess have also chosen to activate an extension clause in Idrissa Gana Gueye's contract, which will see the former Paris Saint-Germain star stay at Goodison Park until June 2025.

The Senegalese midfielder is currently in his second spell at Goodison Park and has played a pivotal role in helping Sean Dyche's side avoid another relegation battle this season, notably scoring the first goal in their 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest

Alli's contract was due to expire this summer, but Everton's director of football, Kevin Thelwell, and manager, Sean Dyche, agreed that they would not be releasing the midfielder while he continues to recover from a long-standing groin injury

Thelwell said in a statement to the club: 'Dele’s contract is coming to an end, but our medical team will continue to support him while he completes the intensive rehabilitation programme he is currently undergoing following the operation he had earlier this year.

'Both Sean and I agree it is important we ensure Dele’s rehabilitation is not impacted by his contract situation at such a critical point in his recovery.'

Alli has not featured for Everton since August 2022, having made 13 appearances for the Toffees since he arrived from Tottenham earlier that year. The midfielder would go out on loan to Besiktas before his time in the Turkish Super Lig was cut short due to a hip injury.

Alli returned to Everton and has been working to make a return to competitive football over the past year. The 28-year-old earned praise earlier this year after he courageously opened up on several traumatic experiences he had as a child on The Overlap with Gary Neville

Last month, the 28-year-old, who has been hampered by injuries, revealed his ambitions to play for England at the 2026 World Cup. Everton, meanwhile, have been supporting him with his rehabilitation, with Alli being pictured in December training alongside members of the first team.

Sean Dyche's side have also announced that Andre Gomes and Andy Lonergan will be leaving the club when their contracts expire at the end of the month.

The Toffees signed Gomes back in 2019 for £22million from Barcelona, after initially joining on loan and impressing for the the Merseyside club under manager Marco Silva

Meanwhile, loan players Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma will both be returning to their parent clubs.

The Toffees confirmed that they will 'continue dialogue with Leeds over the future of Harrison' after the conclusion of the club's play-off campaign.
