Fans are left baffled as Jermaine Jenas awards Kevin De Bruyne his Man of the Match in FA Cup semi-final for making 'so many tackles' - despite only winning one!

Fans have been left baffled after Kevin De Bruyne was named the Man of the Match against Chelsea

Pep Guardiola's side booked their place in the FA Cup final for the second consecutive year with a 1-0 win over the Blues at Wembley.  

Bernardo Silva struck from close range six minutes from time to ensure City's hope of winning the double stayed intact. 


Jermaine Jenas, who was on co-commentary for the BBC, name De Bruyne as his  Man of the Match, praising his defensive contribution. 

The former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder said: 'De Bruyne is my player of the match, but not for the usual reasons.

Jenas' comments came despite De Bruyne making just one tackle throughout the whole match

'It has been a spicy game and he has made so many tackles, but he's also had that bit of quality as well.'

And fans took to social media to question Jenas' decision, with some insisting De Bruyne was miles off it'. 

One said: 'Is Jenas alright? De Bruyne as MotM is one of the worst opinions I've seen in a while, by his standards he's been miles off it.'

Another wrote: 'Kevin De Bruyne's had an absolute stinker today for me. Countless over hit & misplaced passes compared to his usual standard. Still Jermaine Jenas' man of the match'.

A third fan asked: 'De Bruyne man of the match? Did Jenas watch the game?' 

De Bruyne proved pivotal going forward as his cross into the box resulted in Silva's winner.
