CBS Sports viewers claim Kate Abdo's boyfriend Malik Scott is 'going after the wrong pundit' and should direct his ire at Thierry Henry rather than Jamie Carragher.
Two weeks ago, the former Liverpool defender and Abdo were involved in an awkward exchange over her relationship with her boyfriend during the network's Champions League coverage.
Carragher made a bizarre remark about Abdo 'not being loyal' to Scott, Deontay Wilder's boxing trainer, prompting the CBS host to reply: 'What? How can you even say that?,' while Thierry Henry and Micah Richards smiled awkwardly.
During coverage the following night, Abdo responded to the comment - and the accompanying online furore - with a witty opening monologue in which she compared Carragher to a child with 'a chip on his shoulder, capable of saying anything for attention'.
On Tuesday, Scott issued his first public response, saying that the Liverpool legend's initial comment had 'really got to him'.

Henry is the subject of light-hearted mocking on social media where fans joke that he has a crush on Abdo
'It was a very minute thing, but her being irritated by it a little bit is what really got to me,' Scott told Lord Ping.
'Him just saying it and being that guy who always makes those picking at you jokes wasn't really a big deal to me at all. It's only a big deal if Kate is upset.
'If Kate gets upset then it's a really big deal to me and I'll give him a call and if he doesn't pick up my call, then I'll show up in a physical manner so we can talk like men, so that's not something you should continue to do.
'But I think Jamie apologised, not just to Kate but to the team, and one thing you can't do is knock a man who admits he was wrong. In that regard I have high respect for him.'
But fans on social media joked Scott should be concerned by Henry, who is often the subject of light-hearted mocking on social media where fans joke that he has a crush on Abdo.
Following Scott's comments, a post on X collating several clips of the pair laughing amiably together went viral.
'Going after the wrong pundit son,' read the caption.
A user wrote: 'He [Scott] sees Carra as inferior... wouldn't dare come for Henry because he'd embarrass himself and come across as insecure, which is ironically how this looks anyway.'
Another added: 'Imagine your competition being Titi. I'd give up man,' while a third praised the former World Cup winner as 'the best on and off the pitch' and one suggested Scott knew he 'couldn't step up to a legend'.
Meanwhile, one jokingly suggested the alleged chemistry between Henry and Abdo should worry Scott.
'Personally I can't stand Jamie but let's be real, where there is smoke there is fire,' the post read.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Scott added: 'It's not that she's one of the best sports broadcasters, she's one of the best human beings I've come across in this life.
'I'm very much in love with her and I plan on marrying her.
'The thing that happened with Jamie, it's a part of the job, but it's not the first time he's said something out the way like that, but it's the first time he said something in reference to possibly disturbing a household or disturbing a couples chemistry.'
The incident took place after Arsenal's clash with Porto, when Carragher donned an Arsenal shirt after being asked to do so by Bukayo Saka in his post-match interview, after Richards had worn the shirt earlier in the night.
Scott said Carragher's comments had 'got to him', but conceded the pundit had apologised
Abdo made her relationship with Scott public on social media two weeks ago

She replied by calling Carragher 'that one annoying family member we still love and accept'
Carragher then suggested Henry and Abdo should be next to wear the Arsenal jersey on-air.
'You (Henry) can wear it next and for the last part (of the show) you (Abdo) have got to wear it,' he told his colleagues.
'No, I'm loyal,' Abdo swiftly replied, before adding 'to Manchester United, thank you very much', when asked by Carragher whom she was loyal to.
'You're not loyal to Malik,' the former Liverpool defender fired back, referencing Scott.
The joke appeared to go down like the proverbial lead balloon with the CBS host before Carragher attempted to explain the comment, noting that Scott 'hasn't had a mention on the show tonight.'
