A woman has been charged after allegedly kidnapping a child from a Melbourne primary school on Friday morning.
Police allege the woman, 35, walked into Fitzroy Primary School on George Street in the inner suburb of Fitzroy and abducted a five-year-old girl at around 9am.
She walked with the child to Atherton Gardens on Brunswick Street - a distance of about 600metres.
They were spotted by a member of the public, who called the police at around 9.40am, detectives said.
The woman was arrested without incident.

The child suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition for assessment.
The primary school immediately called the police when it became aware of the 'disturbing incident', a Department of Education spokesperson said.
The woman, who has no fixed address, has been charged with child stealing and will appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court tonight.
