New Yorkers on the Upper West Side of Manhattan were treated to a sneak peak of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons as they were inflated with helium on Wednesday afternoon.

The massive balloons were blown up between midday and 6pm along Central Park West - a spectacle which takes around 90 minutes to complete. 

New balloon giants joining the line-up this year include Beagle Scout Snoopy, Blue Cat & Chugs, Kung Fu Panda's Po, Leo the lizard, Monkey D Luffy, the Pillsbury Doughboy and Uncle Dan.

This year's parade will feature 25 giant character balloons, 31 floats, 11 marching bands, more than 29 troops of clowns and, of course, Santa Claus. (Pictured: Leo the lizard being inflated)

This year's parade will feature 25 giant character balloons, 31 floats, 11 marching bands, more than 29 troops of clowns and, of course, Santa Claus.

Other balloons this year include Acorn, Bluey the Dog, Ice Cream Cone, Grogu, Paw Patrol, Pikachu and Eevee, Pumpkins, Red Titan from Ryan's World, and Ronald McDonald. 

Smokey Bear, Stuart the Minion, Spongebob Squarepants and Gary, Tiptoe the deer, and Sinclair's Dino round out the crowd.

The 2.5-mile route spans most of Central Park West from 77th Street to Columbus Circle before turning on Central Park South and then Sixth Avenue until Herald Square.

It will feature big-name celebrities like Cher, who just released a Christmas album and will make an appearance just before the end of the parade, signaled by the arrival of Santa's sleigh. 

Grammy-winner Jon Batiste is scheduled to kick off the event, with performances to follow by Bell Biv DeVoe, Brandy, Chicago, En Vogue, ENHYPEN, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors.

Also featuring are Jessie James Decker, Ashley Park with some Muppets from 'Sesame Street,' Pentatonix, Paul Russell, Amanda Shaw and Alex Smith, and Manuel Turizo. 

U.S. Olympic gymnastics silver medalist Jordan Chiles, U.S. track and field Paralympian Ezra Frech, U.S. Paralympic swimming gold medalist Jessica Long and Miss America 2023 Grace Stanke will also join the festivities.
