A couple is left heartbroken after their two dogs were electrocuted when a power cable fell into their yard during a storm.

Home surveillance footage shows the dogs, Max and Vasco, in their backyard after their owners let them out during a pause in the storm.

Following a sudden blackout, the North Miami couple rushed outside to discover a fallen power cable in their garden, fearing the worst for their beloved pups.

'Me and my husband went out to check, and the dogs were there, face down, floating in the little garden,' the wife, who asked not to be identified, told NBC6.

The mutts were rushed to an emergency facility, but they were killed instantly at the scene.

Caught on camera, the two dogs, Max and Vasco (pictured) were in their backyard after their owners let them out when there was a pause in the storm.

Other animals, such as frogs, were floating lifeless near the dogs, per the surveillance footage.

The bereft couple is now demanding answers from Florida Power & Light as they claim the poles has been worked on two months before the tragedy ensued.

FPL acknowledged the incident in a statement, deferring further investigation details to the North Miami Police Department.

South Florida was pounded by 20 inches of rain on Thursday, bringing about threats of flash flooding.

This followed Wednesday's severe downpours that caused widespread damage, including at least one water rescue, flooded homes, stranded vehicles, school closures, and even cats stuck in trees.
