A footy club based in a long-standing rugby league heartland has reportedly called for all fans to be banned from junior matches indefinitely as spectator violence continues to escalate.
Representatives from the Greystanes Devils - who are part of the Parramatta Junior Rugby League in Sydney's west - believe a complete spectator lockout is the answer.
'It is sad it has come to this - there have always been problems, but it has just reached crazy proportions this year,' a parent told Wide World of Sports.
'Some of the incidents have been just terrible. We had a parent jumping the dugout in a recent game trying to get onto the field to fight players - and remember these kids are under 13.
'The [bloke] went to the Parramatta junior league judiciary and got 16 weeks - [but] he should have got a life ban.'
The concerned parent then stated their belief some kids could echo the unacceptable behaviour from unruly spectators.
'The kids see the adults behaving like this and then they start to act up too - it's a vicious cycle and it needs to stop,' they added.
'Our referees also cop terrible abuse [on the field] and they are just kids.

'We have put several proposals to the Parramatta Junior League ... but they seem in denial and are trying to keep it all quiet.'
Daily Mail Australia reached out to representatives from the Greystanes Devils for comment.
In a further twist, the Parramatta Junior Rugby League have denied being asked by the Devils to 'schedule games behind closed doors'.
Adding to the frustration has been the volume of rain in Sydney the past few months, which has seen grassroots sports cancelled on many weekends.
Many games are then not able to be rescheduled due to ground availability, which leaves parents feeling short-changed and kids unable to compete.
