Bradman Best played his part in a famous victory for New South Wales against Queensland on Wednesday, but he certainly walked away with battle scars after the gruelling contest at Suncorp Stadium.

Best, 22, scored the try that opened up the game for the Blues, feeding off Jarome Luai's line-breaking run to score in the left corner for the visitors, who secured only their third victory on enemy soil in their history.

The Newcastle Knights gun, in his first Origin game, proved he is more than deserving of his place on the big stage.

The centre, who is dating Kayla Fenech, the daughter of boxing legend Jeff, showed incredible fighting spirit throughout the contest and caught his fair share of licks after the final whistle was blown.

The young gun sported a torn and bloody lip but was seemingly unfazed when asked about it by Nine.

'One of the toughest games I've played,' he said. 'Coming up here, it's so good to get the win.

'I haven't seen it [the lip injury] but definitely felt it.

'I wasn't concerned, we knew what we had to do. We just had to build pressure and we did that to get the win.

The glamorous model shared her pride in her footy star boyfriend after the final whistle

'It was unreal. Jarome did all the hard work and I just finished it off. Stoked, over the moon, very special.

'I can't wait to have a few beers and celebrate with the boys.'

Kayla was in attendance at Suncorp Stadium for the milestone victory, and shared her pride in her beau's performance.

'So proud,' she posted alongside three love hearts as Best basked in the Blues fans' ovation as the players did their lap of honour.
