Bradman Best played his part in a famous victory for New South Wales against Queensland on Wednesday, but he certainly walked away with battle scars after the gruelling contest at Suncorp Stadium.
Best, 22, scored the try that opened up the game for the Blues, feeding off Jarome Luai's line-breaking run to score in the left corner for the visitors, who secured only their third victory on enemy soil in their history.
The Newcastle Knights gun, in his first Origin game, proved he is more than deserving of his place on the big stage.
The centre, who is dating Kayla Fenech, the daughter of boxing legend Jeff, showed incredible fighting spirit throughout the contest and caught his fair share of licks after the final whistle was blown.
The young gun sported a torn and bloody lip but was seemingly unfazed when asked about it by Nine.
'One of the toughest games I've played,' he said. 'Coming up here, it's so good to get the win.
'I haven't seen it [the lip injury] but definitely felt it.
'I wasn't concerned, we knew what we had to do. We just had to build pressure and we did that to get the win.
