A world-ranked cyclist has taken to social media to document his injuries following a recent horror crash that has threatened to put an end to his Olympic ambitions.

Primoz Roglic was one of a number of top stars to be injured following a massive crash during the Itzulia Basque Country road cycling race.

With just over 20 miles remaining, a number of riders became seriously injured after losing control at a tight bend with some landing in concrete drainage ditches on the side of the road.

Reigning Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard was one of the worst-affected, and was rushed to hospital after suffering a broken collarbone and collapsed lung.

While Roglic was able to limp away from the incident, photos shared on Instagram show he was by no means unscathed.
