It is no secret to WWE fans that the in-ring action is highly choreographed as the superstars put on a show.

The high-flying, hard hitting action is all well worked out to avoid injury to their fellow competitors.

But it is often the case that those who choose to make a move into professional wrestling have some sort of combat background.

More often than not it is people like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, accomplished amateur wrestlers who have captured the eye of those looking for the next big thing.

Some like Ken Shamrock, even come from mixed martial arts to join the professional wrestling ranks.

There has also been a number of instances where WWE stars decide to go down the route of joining mixed martial arts promotions.

This has seen varying degrees of success, from Brock Lesnar taking the UFC world by storm to CM Punk's rather meagre forray into the octagon.

And now former WWE tag team champion Montez Ford wants to be next in the line of stars who have fought in the UFC.

It is safe to say that he has the required background for it having served in the United States Marine Corps.

And speaking with ComicBook he made his intentions clear: 'I don't think people know, but yes, I was in the military and I was also a brown, almost a black belt in the military as well.

Bobby Lashley had a relatively successful MMA career boasting a 15-2 record and an undefeated stint with Bellator

'Bobby [Lashley] said I would do exceedingly well especially because he knows my training regimen and my drive.

'He knows by getting some assistance in that area, I should do exceedingly well. I can throw hands with anybody here backstage, including this one (Angelo Dawkins). I don't get tired unlike some people. I'm very motivated to do so.'

The aforementioned Lashley's endorsement should serve as a confidence boost for Ford.

He may never have made it to the UFC but the former WWE Champion boasts an impressive 15-2 MMA record, that included an undefeated five-fight streak in Bellator.

And it seems like Ford is willing to put his plan into motion as he has already spoken with WWE executive Nick Khan.

'I even told Nick Khan, I said, 'Hey, I know you're doing all these crossovers, but if you need somebody to do another crossover and step to the octagon, I'll be that guy,' Montez Ford said.

'I think the weight that people need to be worried about is whatever weight I decide to do, because I'm throwing hands.

'I put it right here officially on ComicBook right now: If anybody truly feels like if I cross over, that they could just take me down very easily because I'm not so used to this field and UFC, tell 'em to holler at me.

'As the wrestlers say, for shoot. I'm ready. If they want to do something in the octagon, if they want to place me in a crossover event, WWE versus UFC, I would gladly be that representation.

'Right now we don't have any more representation. I would definitely be the representation.'
