Jesse Watters has revealed he was attacked by a dog over Thanksgiving - insisting the dog was Democrat-owned because the owner did not recognize him and drove a Subaru.

The Fox News host, 45, showed scarred hand two weeks after telling his co-hosts that his dog Duchess, a Bernadoodle, had been 'got rid of' because 'it didn't work out'.

Watters and his wife Emma are also believed to own a mini poodle, Rookie. The news anchor told viewers on Monday he was on a walk during the Thanksgiving break and came across a woman with a large dog, which he immediately felt she could not control.

Jesse Watters on Monday night told viewers that he was bitten by a dog during Thanksgiving

'We're on a tight part of the trail and I notice the dog's all wet, and she's like, 'Oh, this my dog, you know, kind of wet, he just swam in the pond,' and I'm thinking, this is kind of crazy,' said Watters.

'You're letting your dog swim in a pond, 37 degrees in a nature preserve? That's my first clue.

'Second clue, woman's kind of struggling to hold the dog on the leash.'

He continued: 'The dog comes by, and I'm trying to back up, just give her a little room - dog bites me. Twice. Nips my groin and takes a chunk out of my hand.'

He then asked the camera crew in the studio to zoom in on his hand, which had a visible scar.

'See it? Zoom in on that. Zoom in. And I never like to show pain, I never say ouch,' he said.

'I mean, thank God she bit me. She didn't bite someone litigious like Judge Jeanine. She would have been tied up in court for a year.'

Watters then claimed she was a Democrat.

'I could tell she was a Democrat because when I pulled into the preserve in my car, there was Subaru Outback. Dead giveaway. Plus, she didn't recognize me.'

He concluded: 'So that was my Thanksgiving. How was yours?'

Watters two weeks earlier declared that his family had got rid of Duchess - the sister of Jeanine Pirro's dog.

Both Watters and his wife posed with the dog on October 11, with a photo captioned: 'Life's short, get the dog!! Meet the newest member of the Watters family - DUCHESS (Duchy for short)!!!

'Thanks @judge_jeanine for leading me to her (fun fact: Judge Jeanine's dog and Duchy are sisters).

'Love our new Bernadoodle baby.'

The family shared a photo of Duchess on October 11, but by November 15 the dog had 'gone'

Judge Jeanine brings up "the dog" that Jesse Watters "got rid of" Rookie is a dog he's had for years. Duchess is the dog that he got rid off. How difficult would it be to say "I found her a new home," or "I gave her back to the breeder." The original clip is attached. pic.twitter.com/g38fw0y3OO

But on November 15, Watters told his Fox colleagues on The Five: 'We ended up getting rid of the dog that we got.'

Co-host Greg Gutfeld said: 'Don't say you got rid of it.'

Watters replied: 'Got rid is a euphemism.'

Asked what the euphemism was for, Watters said: 'I'm not gonna go there. Didn't work out. Didn't work out.'
