France have received a major boost in their hopes to win Euro 2024 after it was revealed that Kylian Mbappe will reportedly not require an operation despite suffering a broken nose.

Mbappe was forced off with the brutal injury during the latter stages of Les Bleus' 1-0 victory over Austria in their opening group game of the tournament on Monday night.

It came after a nasty collison with Austrian defender Kevin Danso, leading to genuine fears from medics that Mbappe's Euro 2024 campaign was in doubt.

However, in good news for Didier Deschamps' side, French journalist Julien Laurens reported in the early hours of Tuesday morning that Mbappe will not require an operation on his nose.

French outlet L'Equipe also went onto claim that the 25-year-old left a hospital in Dusseldorf late on Monday evening after undergoing various tests and diagnosis.

There were genuine fears on Monday that Mbappe could be ruled out of the tournament

The results of these tests were reassuring, with the French Football Federation (FFF) revealing that a decision was made that surgery was not needed, although they did confirm the Les Bleus captain had suffered a broken nose.

Mbappe subsequently returned to France's team hotel and is set to be monitored closely over the coming days by medical staff.

France are next in action when they take on Netherlands on Friday and the report went onto claim that Mbappe is hoping to feature in that game with a mask, although a final decision will be made closer to the time after seeing how he responds to treatment.

However, when pressed, the FFF didn't confirm the exact recovery time for Mbappe, with president Philippe Diallo simply saying: 'It will do it, no operation'.

The latest Mbappe update comes after Deschamps admitted post-match that his captain 'didn't get off lightly' following the collision with Danso.

He had said: ‘I don’t have the elements in my hands. He didn’t get off lightly. It is still to be seen.

'I cannot at this stage give the answer. He’s not doing well. He’s with the medical staff. His nose got badly hit that’s for sure.

'We need to check, but it seems quite complicated, which is really unfortunate for us tonight.’

Mbappe is reportedly hoping to play in Friday's game against the Netherlands with a mask

The news is a big boost for Didier Deschamps, who had feared the worst after Monday's clash

Mbappe took to social media in the early hours of Tuesday to make light of the incident

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Mbappe - who has 47 goals in 80 France caps - had made light of the incident when he posted on X: 'Any ideas for masks?'

Although he didn't score, Mbappe played a key part in France's winner against Austria with Maximilian Wober scoring an own goal following his cross.

After their clash against the Netherlands on Friday, Les Bleus then take on Poland in their final Group D game on June 25 as they look to win the European Championship for the first time since 2000.
