Gary Anderson's attempt to wind up England fans about their 2-1 defeat to Spain on Sunday night backfired massively when the Scotsman lost himself to Michael Smith.
England were left empty-handed as goals from Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal saw La Roja claim a record-fourth European Championship.
Much to the annoyance of Three Lions supporters, Anderson made sure to taunt the score line by holding up 2-1 with his hands during the World Matchplay Darts.
However, only moments later, Anderson lost 10-5 to Michael Smith, who overcame a slow start to see him off.
Smith fought back from 3-0 down against Anderson in a battle between the former world champions.

Luke Littler suffered defeat in the first round as well as he lost 10-6 to Michael van Gerwen
Remarkablym Smith won seven legs in a row to lead 7-3 as Anderson appeared unhappy with some fans mocking Scotland, which is when he signalled '2-1'.
Smith, who has a best result of runner-up at the Matchplay in 2019, was on incredible form as he dropped just two more legs.
Elsewhere on the night, Michael van Gerwen defeated Luke Littler 10-6 in an eagerly-anticipated first-round clash.
In the 10th meeting between the pair, Van Gerwen proved his critics wrong after a run of disappointing form this year.
Van Gerwen was visibly emotional post-match as he denied Littler a first win on debut at the Winter Gardens.
The Dutchman will now face Joe Cullen in the second round as he looks to win the tournament.
