Gary Neville has heavily criticised Manchester United, saying that he is 'bored' of watching them play.

Former United defender Neville has become increasingly frustrated with watching Erik ten Hag's side play and made the comments following the 1-0 defeat away to Newcastle on Saturday.

United are seventh in the Premier League, nine points adrift of leaders Arsenal, while they are bottom of their Champions League group and face a battle to progress to the knockout stages.

Neville also made it clear that he feels that despite strong criticism of ten Hag, the United players need to take responsibility.

Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, Neville said: 'It's well below par, it's really disappointing, and I feel like the noise against the manager is starting to occur. There are then those same noises that say, "Surely we can't get rid of another manager, we've got to get rid of the players because they are the ones who have got rid of the other managers".;

United fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Newcastle on Saturday, leaving Neville hugely frustrated

Neville, who played for United between 1992 and 2011, says that he is tired of his own club

United were abject as they lost to Newcastle, with Anthony Gordon scoring the only goal of the game.

As he has frequently done, Neville also criticised the club's owners, the Glazers.

He said: 'We then turn to the owners, and I'm bored. I have become tired of my own club. I don't want to do their games [punditry/commentary] anymore, I don't want to watch their games anymore and that is the saddest indictment that you can have of your football club when you become bored of watching them, when you become tired of watching them.

'It is not just me, a couple of people in the last couple of weeks have said, "Enough's enough". The daft thing is, on Wednesday night [vs Chelsea] I will build my whole Wednesday night around watching Manchester United.

'That's life, we go and watch them again, don't we? But that is how I feel: I feel tired of watching them. That is a sad position to be in.'

United have some high-profile games coming up against Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Neville is fearful as to what could happen to United in those fixtures.

He said: 'I love that club and I love the excitement of football, but I am already fearing what is going to happen at Anfield in two weeks, just purely because I think it could be a mess. I am already fearing what is going to happen on Wednesday night against Chelsea because it could be a mess.'

According to Neville, United shouldn't be looking to sack manager Erik ten Hag

Neville is concerned about what will happen when United face Chelsea and Liverpool

United have lacked consistency this season, with the loss to Newcastle the latest frustrating encounter. That game came just days after United surrendered a 3-1 lead to end up drawing 3-3 away to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Neville isn't the only United legend to have heavily criticised the club recently.

Former midfielder Paul Scholes described United's display against Newcastle as 'lazy' and 'rubbish'.

'Rubbish. They're a poor football team at this minute,' he told Premier League Productions when asked for a verdict on his former side's malaise.

'Those results they've had recently are misleading.

'Too many lazy players on the football team - you can't get away with that.

'Going to these places, the first thing you do is work hard. You can see the joy that Newcastle are getting down both sides and feel sorry for the full backs.'
