Former Manchester United players Gary Neville, David De Gea and Wayne Rooney are among those leading the praise for the side after their 2-1 FA Cup final win over arch-rivals Man City

Teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored the first-half goals which put the Red Devils in control, and whilst Jeremy Doku got one back, it was not enough.

The FA Cup success has come at the end of a complicated season for Man United, which may see Erik ten Hag ousted as manager despite the silverware earned in their final game.

Neville took to X (formerly Twitter) to share 'Manchester is & always will be', accompanied by a red heart.

Former Man United goalkeeper De Gea shared the sentiment, by writing 'Manchester is and always will be RED!' along with two red circles.

Gary Neville was one of several ex-Man United players to praise their FA Cup final success

BBC pundit Wayne Rooney said he was 'absolutely delighted' by Man United's 2-1 win over City

David Beckham's Instagram post hailed Manchester United's academy for the two scorers

Rooney, one of BBC's pundits for their cup final coverage, said: 'Absolutely delighted. It was such a huge task for Manchester United today to come here and beat the champions and I thought they were absolutely fantastic.

'The resilience they've shown, the work rate, the effort, the desire to score goals. They deserved the victory.'

David Beckham took to Instagram to share 'This is what it means', with some red hearts, and hailing the goalscorers 'straight from our academy'.

Neville had previously said he was planning to watch Saturday's FA Cup final 'from behind the sofa' after a run-in with Manchester City fans at last year's showpiece event.
