Germany stars are battling a 'mosquito plague' at their Euro 2024 training camp that is causing problems for the host nation, as revealed by Julian Nagelsmann.

The Germans were one of the first teams to guarantee their place in the last-16 of the European Championship after going through the group stage unbeaten and impressing against Scotland and Hungary.

Niclas Fullkrug's stoppage time goal against Switzerland on Monday evening rescued top spot for Germany, but things at the team's headquarters haven't been as calm as results suggest.

Mosquitoes that have been encouraged to thrive due to previous floods in Germany have descended on the the Adidas camp being used by Nagelsmann and his squad.

The Adidas 'Home Ground' venue is nestled in stunning woodland and features all of the luxury amenities required to keep top footballers comfortable including an outdoor swimming pool and premium relaxation areas.

However, attempts at team bonding around the pool and other parts of the base are continuing to be disrupted by pesky insects that are biting on a daily basis, as reported by BILD.

Revealing that players and backroom staff are being forced indoors by mosquitoes, Nagelsmann said: 'We have a deviant mosquito plague.

'We have to make sure that there is some wind, that there are not so many mosquitoes. If not, we have to go to the office.'

The team headquarters in the Herzogenaurach region covers 1400 square metres , with housing units built using traditional Bavarian wood that is seemingly well-liked by insects.
