Glastonbury Festival goers have complained of being left for hours in queues without water in the sweltering heat.

As temperatures hit 28C in Somerset, festival attendees warned there could be 'mass strokes' as they moaned about the lack of available water stations while queueing for hours to enter Worthy Farm.

Videos showed thousands of people lined up carrying rucksacks and mats and wearing sun hats, as they waited to get into campsites.

Although music could be heard blaring, revellers reported there was no water available for those standing in the snaking five-hour queue.

Visitors branded the lack of water amid the sizzling temperatures a 'joke', adding that coach companies had also failed to hydrate passengers while bussing them to the festival.

One wrote: 'My first ever time at a festival. Is it normal to queue for 5+ hours without any water? No refill stations at all until the end.'

Another said: 'it’s 25 degrees, your queues are like this and not a single water station in site.'

'@Glastonbury More water for the gate queues. It's a joke atm', another remarked.

Others said the lack of hydration facilities could have left them with a heat stroke after standing for hours in full sunlight.

Festival organisers advertised over 800 taps with 'high quality' drinking water around the site, with people urged to fill their bottles for free and 'drink every drop'.

But revellers reported no facilities until they had cleared the long queues to get into the farm.

And those who did manage to find the water stations reported that the queues to use them were also huge.

'I’m in Paine’s Ground and the queue for the water point is dangerous! You’ll need to start handing out water cans to avoid mass heat stroke xxx', one posted.

Some festival goers also turned their fire on National Express for providing no water to travellers amid reports that some services were delayed leaving Victoria Coach Station in central London.

A passenger wrote: 'It was still mayhem when we departed, queues were longer than when we joined. Make sure you have food & drinks.

'National Express weren't even giving people water while standing for hours in the sun.'
