A young mum who ordered 250g of green beans from Coles was shocked to find a single bean delivered with her online grocery order.

Samantha, who lives on the Gold Coast, ordered several grocery items from her local Coles store on the weekend.

The mum-of-two uploaded a video to TikTok on Monday revealing the solo green bean she received with the order, seen inside a transparent plastic bag.

'Just one bean... who packed this?' Samantha said.

Despite the blunder, Samantha seemed to be amused by the mishap.

'Who in their right mind buys one bean?' she said.

The shopper went on to reveal the single bean cost a whopping $1.65 and mouthed 'what the f***' before the clip ended.

Green beans sold at Coles supermarkets are currently priced at $1.38 for about 200g, or $6.90 for a kilogram.

Samantha then filmed another video which showed her eating the single bean.

Hundreds of shoppers flooded the clips with comments and shared similar experiences of how online orders went terribly wrong.

'Once they literally forgot to [deliver] half of my groceries,' one shopper said.

'I ordered four potatoes. I got 4kg of potatoes,' another shopper wrote.

'Omg I had that happen to me from Woolies. I ordered 1 kg of potatoes and they sent me ONE potato.'

Others, however, saw the funnier side of the bizarre discovery.

'Hope you enjoyed every last inch of that bean,' one person commented.

'That was the last bean in Australia,' another wrote.

'I love watching online grocery shopping fails, absolutely hilarious.'

A spokesperson for Coles told Daily Mail Australia that 'human error' led to the incorrect order.

'Coles online fulfils hundreds of thousands of orders weekly and while we do our best to satisfy every customer 100% of the time, that isn't always possible' the spokesperson said.

'Sometimes things don't go to plan at an operational or supplier level and sometimes it's as simple as a human error.

'In this case, we can understand why the customer was disappointed as it's hard to imagine anyone only ordering a single bean! While we hope this customer didn't go hungry on her vegetables that day, we are glad to see she has a good sense of humour about what appears to be a human error on this isolated incident.'

According to its website, Coles instructs shoppers to go its live chat or fill out an online form if there are items missing from online orders.

Shoppers are either eligible for a refund or can have the missing items credited to their account the next time they place an online order.
