Devastated Australian gymnast Georgia Godwin has revealed she won't compete at the Paris Olympics after suffering an Achilles injury at training.
Days out from this week's national championships on the Gold Coast, a teary Godwin - who won gold in the artistic individual all-around and vault events at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham - took to Instagram to reveal her shattering news.
The 26-year-old told her 35,000 plus followers the shocking news in a a very raw clip she posted on Thursday.
'This is definitely not the news I want to be sharing with you right now,' she said, appearing on crutches in the emotional video.
'A couple of days out from nationals, less than 80 days from Paris, I've sustained an Achilles injury. It's extremely heartbreaking.'

Godwin - who competed at the Tokyo Olympics - added she plans to speak to a surgeon in Brisbane over the next few days.
'We'll just see where we go from there,' she said.
'I'm not entirely sure what the recovery process looks like going forward, but I've got an amazing team around me and trying to be as positive as possible.'
Meanwhile, fellow Olympic hopeful Blake Rutherford also suffered a significant injury in training.
As Australia's top men's trampoline gymnast in Olympic qualifying, Rutherford was in a strong position to earn a spot in Paris dependent on the allocation of a quota place.
Gymnastics Australia issued a statement describing both injury setbacks as a 'cruel blow'.
'The entire gymnastics community in Australia wishes both athletes well in their recovery,' the statement read.
The selection of the Olympic team will be finalised following the national championships on the Gold Coast, which begin on Thursday.
