A grandmother has been hospitalised after being scammed in a Facebook marketplace sale that saw her foot get crushed.

Rebekah Streader, a Coles worker from Shepparton in Victoria, listed her cherished Holden ClubSport for sale, as she desperately needed money to keep a roof over her family's head.

The single mother told 9 News after posting her vehicle on the site, she quickly received messages from an interested man.

After organising a test drive, the man turned up to her home, which was captured by Ms Streader's 'Ring' door bell.

The retail worker handed the potential buyer the keys when he asked to drive the car, but before she could get into the passenger seat he locked the car doors.

Grandmother Rebekah Streader posted her Holden ClubSport to Facebook Marketplace but was run over by a man posing as a buyer, who drove off with her car

The man quickly responded to the Coles worker's ad and requested a test drive (pictured) with the interaction captured by her doorbell CCTV

Despite the grandmother pleading for him to stop, the man ran over her foot before speeding away.

The injury was not caught on Ms Streader's Ring door bell, but was witnessed by her 15-year-old son.

'I was banging on the window asking him to stop because this car is something I had bought years ago and I thought 'I can't lose it. I can't afford to lose it',' Ms Streader said.

The grandmother has had two surgeries after the incident which left her with a shattered foot.

Ms Streader has also been told she won't be able to walk for months.

The grandmother did not want to sell her car, but felt she had no choice because she needed the money to put a roof over her family's head

The Shepperton woman is now pleading with Facebook to increase its security.

'Facebook needs a big change. It's too easy for people to be scammed or ripped off,' she said.

The grandmother believes the man was using a fake Facebook profile, as she was unable to find any trace of him.

Ms Streader said the man was about 170cms tall, with a medium build and a goatee.

Police are investigating the incident.

Friends have started a GoFundMe to help the grandmother financially.
