An 11-year-old boy struck and killed by a bus while riding his bicycle home from school has been remembered as a talented golfer and 'beautiful soul'.

Gurmantar Gill, 11, was just 50 metres from his home when he was hit by the vehicle on Jingellic Drive at Buderim, on the Sunshine Coast, at 3.45pm on Tuesday.

Gurmantar was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital before he died a short time later.

The boy's father, Daljinder Gill, said if his son had made just one more left turn on his journey back from Matthew Flinders Anglican College he would have made it home.

'Yesterday he said he wanted to ride to school,' Mr Gill said of the Year 6 student.

'Normally we pick him up but yesterday he wanted to ride. I still can't believe we don't have him.'

Gurmantar, who lived with his two parents and older sister, dreamed of turning his golfing talent into a career.

He was a part of Maroochy River Golf Club where he was coached by John Wright.

Gurmantar Gill, 11, who died when hit by a bus on Tuesday was a keep golfer who hoped to make a career out of the sport

'He was a beautiful kid,' Mr Wright told the Courier Mail.

'He's a kid you'd always stop and talk to … just a gentle soul.'

Mr Gill said Gurmantar played in a competition last Sunday.

'He always took me to golf, I'm just going to have those memories now,' Mr Gill said.

The bus driver involved in the incident, a man in his 60s, was not physically injured, and is assisting police with investigations.

Another person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital on Tuesday in a stable condition.

It's understood the man was a passenger on the bus.

Witnesses or anyone with relevant vision or information have been urged to contact police.

A spokeswoman for CDC, the company that operates the bus, said staff were devastated by the incident.
