Harry Maguire is spotted unwinding at luxury five-star spa hotel in Turkey where suites can cost up to £6,400 a night after the England star was left out of England squad by Gareth Southgate

Snubbed England star Harry Maguire has been seen enjoying a luxury five-star hotel holiday in Turkey after missing out on a place in Gareth Southgate's Euros squad.

The Manchester United centre-back, capped 63 times by his country, was knocking back drinks by the poolside at the Maxx Royal Belek resort yesterday.

He was there with his family after he was left out of the England squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany which gets under way tomorrow.

The host nation will face Scotland in the opening match tomorrow night, before England take on Serbia this Sunday - ahead of facing Denmark and Slovenia.

The resort where Maguire has been staying is a five-star golf and spa hotel, located on the coast of Belek.

A room can set you back £554 a night for a suite or £865 for a two-bedroom family room - while the most deluxe accommodation there costs up to £6,400 per night.

A fellow holiday-goer, who spotted Maguire, said: 'He is in very good spirits.

'He is looking very relaxed. He must have booked the holiday very last minute - they only announced the squad a few days ago.'

Maguire, 31, has previously been a mainstay of Southgate's side - scoring at both the 2018 World Cup and the previous European Championship in 2021.

But he has been dogged by a calf injury in recent months, forcing him to miss Manchester United's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City on May 25.

After he was left out of the confirmed England squad last weekend, Maguire posted an emotional message on Instagram about his disappointment.

He wrote: 'I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.

'Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf.

He posted a message on Instagram after being left out of Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad

'Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted. For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me.

'If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country.

'Go and win it boys. Next, I will return to the supervision of the Manchester United medical team in order to prepare for next season.'

He was not the only high-profile axeing, with Southgate also leaving behind Manchester City's Jack Grealish and James Maddison of Tottenham Hotspur.

The others discarded from an initial 33-player group were Liverpool's Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones, Burnley's James Trafford and Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite.

Southgate insisted the players had dealt with their snubs 'respectfully'.

He said: 'All players are going to believe they should be in, that's why they're top players. They have that mindset.

'The fact is, we've got some players who have been playing extremely well all season and we feel other players have had stronger seasons - particularly in the last six months or so.

England manager Gareth Southgate, pictured during England training at Blankenhain in Germany yesterday, has said those dropped from his squad took the news 'respectfully'

Among those missing out is Manchester City's £100million playmaker Jack Grealish

Southgate also cut Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison from his Euro 2024 squad

'We're blessed with options in attacking areas, all offering something slightly different. Madders and Jack give us something different as well, so they're tough calls.

'We've gone over it and over it as staff to try and be fair. We back our decisions but we recognise we could have gone a different route. Both boys are big characters and great to work with.'

On Maguire's omission, the England boss said: 'Harry has made some progress but it's been complicated.

'Given we've not got a clean bill of health across the rest of the back line, we need players who are ready to go from the start.

'Another really difficult call - you know how I feel about Harry Maguire for England and what he's done for me as a manager.'

Grealish has been dealing with his Euros heartbreak by jetting off on holiday to Dubai, with his brother Kevan and a group of friends.

Kevan shared photos of the location online, while Jack is also reported to be planning a separate break with his long-time partner Sasha Attwood.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, who has 60 England caps and scored three goals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, did not make Southgate's initial 33-man training camp squad ahead of this summer's Euros.

He has since been spotted dancing at an exclusive beach bar restaurant in the French resort of Cannes.
