Harvey Elliott hailed Mohamed Salah's influence in his Liverpool career after the Egyptian led the Reds' comeback victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Reds moved to the top of the Premier League table after beating 10-men Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park having initially gone behind from the penalty spot.

Salah struck first to level the match before Elliott came off the bench to score a stoppage time winner for Jurgen Klopp's side.

The attacking duo shared an insight into their mentor/mentee relationship after the match, with Elliott crediting his colleague for his vital late strike.

Elliott praised Salah - who scored his 200th goal for Liverpool in the match - for being 'by his side' since breaking through into the first-team and described playing with the world class winger as a 'pleasure'.

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott heaped praise on Mohamed Salah after their win at Selhurst Park on Saturday

Salah scored his 200th Liverpool goal and 150th Premier League strike in the match

’I think my finish today just sums up what I’ve learnt from him. If I keep talking about how much I’ve learnt and how much of an influence he’s been on me everyone would get bored,' Elliott told TNT Sports.

‘Ever since I came through the first door he’s always been by my side, looked after me and its just a pleasure to share the pitch with such a legend.

'He deserves getting his 200th goal today. no one works as hard as him - and as I said it just sums him up.’

Elliott's match-winning goal against Palace was his first of the season in all competitions, with the youngster largely coming on off the bench in games.

The Young Lions star is held in high regard at the club and Salah revealed he has been working with Elliott individually after training sessions and in the gym to help him improve.

’Yeah it’s nice to hear. He’s a good kid, he’s learning. I always try to ush him in the gym and also practice after training. Just do something extra because without working hard you won’t achieve something big,' replied Salah.

’He’s having a good career and I’m sure he can have much better than that he’s just needs to put in the work. I’m happy for him, always by his side, telling him that if he wants to come speak then I’m there.

‘Sometimes you need to work as a psychologist for the young players but happy about it all,' he said.
