Hawthorn's Jack Ginnivan has grabbed attention with a social media post about teammate Will Day following a wild incident during the Hawk's victory over Adelaide.

The Hawks kicked 10 of the first 12 goals to kill off the match, winning 16.11 (107) to 12.8 (80).

The two teams came into the game with similar form lines, having recovered in the past few weeks after barren starts to the season.

While the emerging Hawks were outstanding, Adelaide were awful and are winless in their past 11 games at the MCG, going back to the Crows' 2017 grand final season.

Hawks star Jack Ginnivan had a fiery moment with teammate Will Day following a goal

Day yelled at Ginnivan and repeatedly pushed him after he scored in the third quarter

Ginnivan was ecstatic after kicking a goal in the dying seconds of the third quarter, before being mobbed by teammates.

However, Day seemed particularly fired up  and yelled at Ginnivan and repeatedly pushed him.

'Love this guy, just a fired up celebration chill OTTNO (on to the next one),' Day wrote on X after the match

Ginnivan's response to the post raised a few eyebrows.

'We f***ing hate each other,' he wrote.

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell wasn't at all worried about the incident, explaining that the players are in fact very close.

'They are really close, I sort of call them the rascal pack,' Mitchell said in his post match press conference.

Ginnivan raised eyebrows after the match by posting on social media that he 'hates' Day

Coach Sam Mitchell says he wasn't at all worried about the pair who he says are close friends

'There is this whole little group of players, they spend all this time together, and they have all got their celebrations, and all those things.

'Basically, what I think was happening, they were getting into 'Ginni' because his two best mates are right in front of him, and he didn't see them, and he had a shot at goal. They are into him about that. 'Daysy' is like, 'That's a boy, you have made up for it'.

'I think the banter that those guys have, in a fun way, they are having great fun playing footy as young men in their early 20s. But, by the same token, they have started to hold each other to a higher account. If you look at us as a group, I think they are a good snapshot.

'They started off in their careers having fun, and perhaps not doing everything they should be doing. Now, when they go outside of what they know is the best thing for the team, they pull each other up, so the coaches don't need to get involved, and they are basically running themselves.'
