Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin have been dumped out of the Olympic Games after losing their first round match in straight sets.
De Minaur was forced to pull out of the men's singles competition owing to the hip injury that led to his withdrawal from Wimbledon earlier this month, but made himself available for the doubles tournament alongside childhood friend Popyrin.
However, the Aussie pair were dispatched of in brutal fashion by Team USA rivals Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram, who won the contest 6-2, 6-4 at Roland Garros.
It means both De Minaur and his tennis star girlfriend Katie Boulter will no longer play a part in Paris this summer, with the Briton also suffering a straight sets first round defeat in the women's singles to Anna Karolína Schmiedlová of Slovakia.
