The heart-breaking reason behind Tom Trbojevic's 'that's gold' thumbs up try celebration for Manly has been revealed in a new social media post.
The Manly Sea Eagles handed the Titans a painful 34-30 defeat at CBUS Super Stadium on Saturday night.
Tom Trbojevic had an excellent game with a first half double, which could have been a hat trick if not for a forward pass.
Trbojevic, who staked his claim for an Origin jersey, celebrated his second try with a thumbs up 'that's gold' gesture, which has since been explained as a special tribute to a brave young footballer battling cancer.

The Mona Vale Raiders footy club posted a thank you to Tom Trbojevic for his celebration gesture to sick junior member Beau who is battling cancer
'Great to see Tom give the thumbs up for beau, just as he said to Beau he would do,' wrote the Mona Vale Raiders footy club on their Instagram page.
'Keep up the good battle and cancer fight Beau.'
Beau, who plays in the Under 12s, recently received the devastating news that he had stage 4 cancer and is now undergoing chemo.
'Beau is such a talented footballer, a great teammate and an awesome friend and a massive Manly Sea Eagles fan,' said the club.
'His dad Scott is always at training and games and often looking after the BBQ at the oval.
Two weeks ago Beau was at training and played in our trial game only a few weeks ago. Watching this guy play footy you would never know what his body was going through on the inside.'
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help the family in anyway possible.
While Manly looked dangerous in attack, their defence against the lowest scoring team in the comp could use some improvement.

'I think Manly has always been a team that knows they can always score points but in terms of having to win a game 34-30 against a team on the bottom of the ladder, that's not a good sign for Manly,' Cooper Cronk said on Fox League.
'You can't be doing that against teams in the top four.'
Manly skipper Daly Cherry-Evans shared a similar opinion to Cronk.
'There's not a heap to be proud of when it comes to our performance, but we will just take the two points and get back to Brookvale,' he said.
