Fancy dress costumes have taken over this year's festive party scene as workers flocked to city streets to celebrate Santa season and have a very messy Christmas.
Wild outfits were front and centre as revellers made their way to pubs, bars and clubs across Sydney despite the blistering heat that baked most of the city.
Partygoers were seen decked out in several superhero costumes, including a beer-swilling WonderWoman and cocktail-quaffing Catwoman.
One man was dressed as the iconic Nintendo videogame character Mario while another stepped out as party animal Alan from The Hangover movie series.
Another man was seen wearing a bizarre loaf of bread costume while carrying a hand-held fan on the way to a party.
The Santa hats were in full swing with plenty of city dwellers seen wearing the traditional colours of Christmas to their office parties.
Others were clearly planning a big night with several carrying plenty of booze to carry on late into the evening, while others came prepared with slabs of water too.
Some opted to keep things casual by wearing party attire as dozens packed the popular Kings Street Wharf to celebrate on the harbour.
