Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball turned his back into a canvas and showcased his impressive space-themed back tattoo.

On Tuesday, InkedNBA posted pictures of the piece that took three sessions and six tattoo artists to complete.

According to TMZ, Ball contacted Herchell L. Carrasco - also known as RockRollG - at Pachuco Tattoo in Orange, California, after months of planning the tattoo. With such a massive piece, Carrasco summoned his friends Niz Carillo, Jorge Garibay, Juan Nambo, Jonas Aguilar, and Elvis Ramos to put the elements together.

The piece features a spaceship beaming its light on Ball's nape. Under the stream of light, the words 'Rare One' run across his upper back.

The word 'rare' spans from shoulder to shoulder in a graffiti-like font. The top of each color is in red ink and fades to black on the bottom. Meanwhile, the word 'one' sits under, written in the engraver's old English font.

LaMelo Ball added to his tattoo collection with a space-themed piece covering his entire back

Ball's new back piece took three tattoo sessions and the help of six different artists

Ball averaged 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and eight assists in his fourth season with the Hornets

Under the wording is a picture of an alien wearing a hood with the number one on its forehead. To cap off the main elements, '1 of 1' is written in red ink on his lower back.

Additionally, the piece features the night sky as the background, with clouds, stars, planets, and meteors.

The tattoo also flows into his arms with more space-themed elements and a cross on his elbows.

Ball got the piece done after wrapping up his fourth season in the NBA. After getting drafted by the Hornets in 2020, Ball has remained in Charlotte for his entire career.

The youngest Ball brother averaged 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and eight assists this past season as the Hornets finished 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 21-61 record.
