NC State's game against Wake Forest took a scary turn on Saturday after Wolfpack quarterback Grayson McCall was left motionless on the floor following a brutal collision.
McCall made his return this weekend in Raleigh - having missed two games due to a concussion - but a few minutes into the game, he took a nasty hit to the head and stayed on the turf.
Three defenders converged as the quarterback scrambled for a first down. McCall dipped his head moments before his helmet flew into the air and the quarterback slumped to the floor.
He then lay still as Carter-Finley Stadium fell silent and teammates called frantically for treatment.
Medics rushed on to the field and, as ESPN reported, cut off the quarterback's jersey and put him in a neck brace.

The quarterback had to be carted from the field after he was left motionless by the collision
Some Wolfpack players took a knee while others walked off the field in tears.
Thankfully the quarterback was able to gesture to the crowd after being put on the cart which carried him from the field.
Later, NC State confirmed McCall had been released from the hospital. 'He is alert and in good spirits and all scans were normal,' the school said.
'As far as Grayson goes, all of the reports back from the hospital are positive,' NC State coach Dave Doeren said immediately after the game, per 247 Sports.
'Once they're done going through all of the tests, obviously we'll have more information at that time.'

It's not the first serious head injury of McCall's career. While playing at Coastal Carolina last year, he suffered a nasty blow that ended his season - and nearly his career.
Doeren added: 'He was ready to play, and he took a really vicious hit.
'Sometimes football is a very violent sport, at times, and that was a big hit that he took... I hate it for him. You just hate to see a guy get hit like that. And obviously the results of hits like that are scary.'
Wake Forest went on to win the game 34-30, with NC State now 3-3 for the season.
