Horror in Manhattan as schoolboy is shot in the head and killed in broad daylight by attacker who 'fled on a Citibike'

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the head in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday, according to officials. 

A suspect fled on a Citibike after the shooting, which happened just before 2.30pm, according to the New York Post. 

Law enforcement sources told the outlet the shooting in Soho might have been 'school-related.' 

The teen was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died, an NYPD spokesperson told DailyMail.com.

Officers arrived at the scene, next to the Dominick Hotel, after receiving a 911 call and found the victim unconscious.

He had also been shot in the thigh, per the NYPD. 

Police are currently searching for at least two suspects.

No arrests have been made.
