A teenage girl has died and four others have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a car ploughed into a tree overnight. 

Emergency services rushed to Horsley Drive at Wetherill Park in Sydney's west just after 11pm on Thursday night. 

The 18-year-old girl behind the wheel was killed on impact.

It's understood she had a provisional licence. 

Four others, the male front passenger and three back seat passengers, were taken to hospital were hospitalised with serious injuries. 

Another female in her teens and a man in his 20s were rushed to Westmead Hospital with a third passenger taken to Liverpool Hospital. 

Fairfield Police are investigating the incident and have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers. 

Daily Mail Australia has contacted NSW Police in relation to the incident.  

It comes after three members of the same family were killed in a horror crash between a car and a tanker near Brisbane on Thursday morning.

Steven Wheeler, 54, and his parents Bob Wheeler, 84, and Magret, 81, were all declared dead at the scene following the collision at around 5.45am. 

The male driver of the semi-trailer, 52, suffered minor injuries and was rushed by paramedics to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition. 

On Tuesday night, two close friends were killed after a suspended driver crashed into their motorbike in Greenacre in Sydney's west.

William Brown, 26, and his passenger Doey Choi, 24, were thrown several metres after a Toyota Corolla turned at a busy intersection at about 7pm. 

Despite the efforts of paramedics both Brown and Choi died at the scene while the driver was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. 

More than a dozen people had died on NSW roads in two weeks.
