Hull City defender Jacob Greaves undergoes a medical at Ipswich ahead of a potential move to the Premier League new boys

Hull City defender Jacob Greaves was undergoing a medical with Ipswich Town on Sunday ahead of agreeing his move.

The recently promoted side have been pursuing Greaves for several weeks, with Mail Sport reporting that the club were in talks over a £35million double deal for Greaves and his Hull teammate Jaden Philogene.

Son of former Hull defender Mark Greaves, Jacob began his career in Hull's academy before making his first senior appearance on loan at Cheltenham in 2019.

After Hull's relegation to League One in 2020 the 6ft 4in centre back quickly became an integral part of the team that won promotion back to the second tier at the first time of asking.

Since the their return to the Championship Greaves has remained a consistent presence in the heart of the club's defence, whilst also filling in at left-back on occasion.

The 23-year-old made 43 appearances last season as the Tigers narrowly missed out on a play-off place under then-boss Liam Rosenior.

Greaves was named Hull's player of the year after winning their young player award for the previous three seasons, and was also named in the Championship team of the season.

Ipswich remain in talks for Philogene but face competition from Everton who have an agreement in place to sign the winger, and Crystal Palace who have also posted interest in Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche.

After joining Hull from Aston Villa in September, Philogene enjoyed a breakout campaign at the MKM Stadium last season.

The 22-year-old netted one of the goals of the season in Hull's 2-1 win over Rotherham back in February and has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
