An American woman living in London has revealed what has most shocked her about our dress sense.
Aurora Lofton, a management consultant from Virginia, who moved to the UK two years ago uploaded a clip to TikTok on the trans Atlantic differences in corporate attire.
She claimed that Brits always wear neutral clothes to work unlike brighter outfits of her colleagues back in her native USA.
Many Americans were left baffled by her observations, while Brits called on the London resident to bring more colour to the capital.
Aurora Lofton , a management consultant from Virginia , who moved to the big smoke a couple of years ago uploaded a clip on differences in corporate gear
She started off the clip: 'I'm an American girlie that lives and works in London and one of the differences I've noticed about the office culture is that there is a specific colour palette when it comes to British corporate attire'.
Pointing to her body she said: 'You are either wearing grey, or white, black, or a dark navy blue, maybe a light colour blue and that's it.
'Maybe like a beige colour, there are specific colours and that's it. I barely ever ever see colour in the streets of the financial district or when I'm going out'.
She joked: 'They all had a meeting, these are the colours, these are the five colours, and those are the only colours that people wear'.
Continuing: 'Whereas back home, not that people were wearing eccentric colours all the time but there was just a broader palette of options to wear to work'.
The consultant added: 'I even have some fun colours upstairs they've not even seen the light of day.
'Since I moved to this country, these are the types of colours that I wear and to be honest, I can respect it. It's a muted, simple, chic vibe'.
Of her 63,000 viewers, some were shocked to hear what wardrobe expectations are like across this side of the Atlantic, while others asked Aurora to be brave and sport some colour.
Pointing to her body she said: 'You are either wearing grey, or white, black, or a dark navy blue, maybe a light colour blue and that's it'
One user said: 'Everything about the UK is just so dull', while another tried to shed some light on why: 'It starts off from our school uniforms'.
Another shared observations with Aurora: 'The way every businessman around Bank wears the exact same blue suit with white shirt...'
A different user said: 'This! and when wearing coats, they are just usually black!
'Good things about the UK is that they don't care that much if you wear other colours, you just stand out from the crowd'.
One added: 'In general though British people mostly wear dark coloured clothing, no idea why but take a look when you're next in a crowd'.
TikTok users largely encouraged the American to sport brighter colours, with some offering their explanations - but not everybody saw truth in her observations
Others urged the content creator to 'please bring some colour' and 'introduce us a nice pink or yellow loosen up us Brits'.
Somebody even told Aurora she was 'in the wrong sector' and others admitted they still wear brights.
'Not me! I’m always in colour and prints at my office and I’m a big 4 girlie', said one, and another seemed to disagree with her observation, asking her if she's been to Notting Hill Carnival - notorious for its colours.
