A Los Angeles Lakers fan appeared to badly injure his Achilles while trying to make a half-court shot for $55,000 in Crypto.com Arena.

A fan named Anthony was picked to try and make the money shot from 47 feet out when the Lakers hosted the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

'This is what I do,' said Anthony when asked if he was ready to take the big shot.

Anthony took a couple of steps before launching the ball from the logo. Upon landing, he wobbled into the three-point line before taking a bad step with his left foot.

As his 55,000-dollar attempt air-balled, Anthony continued to stumble while holding his back before falling on the hardwood floor. Visibly hurt, Anthony held onto his left leg before trying to get back up on his feet.

Anthony confidently said 'this is what I do,' before the injury and failed attempt on Sunday

The Los Angeles crowd was stunned by the injury and what had unfolded in front of them.

Anthony smiled as the arena host helped him stand up. However, after a few steps, Anthony stopped walking with a firm grip on the host's arm and hand. He then began holding his left ankle as the discomfort was becoming more and more visible.

As part of the game, Anthony was offered a chance to win the money from the three-point line. Unfortunately, he was too injured to take the second attempt.

Arena staff helped Anthony off the court as the audience applauded him for his effort. The segment ended shortly after.

No information has been given about the fan's condition - and whether or not he signed a liability waiver before the shot.

The Lakers won the game 105-104 with LeBron James scoring 37 points in an incredible display to lead the team to victory.
