Lin Dunn came to Caitlin Clark's defense after she was bodychecked to the ground by Sky player Chennedy Carter in the third quarter of the Indiana Fever's 71-70 win against Chicago Saturday night.

The Fever general manager took to social media after the game, in which Carter seemingly yelling 'you b***h' at Clark before shoving her to the ground.

'There's a difference between tough defense and unnecessary — targeting actions!' the longtime WNBA coach wrote on X.

'It needs to stop! The league needs to "cleanup'" the crap,' she added. 'That's NOT who this league is!!'

Using her own bodyweight to hit Clark, Carter knocked the rookie to the ground as she stood waiting for the inbound.

Remarkably, the Chicago player escaped with just a personal foul.

'I'm trying not to get fined,' Fever head coach Christie Sides told reporters postgame.

'We're just gonna keep sending these possessions to the league and these plays, and hopefully they'll start taking a better look at some of the things that we see happening or we think is happening,' she explained.

'Just more happy that Caitlin handled it the way she did. It's tough to keep getting hammered the way she does, and to not get rewarded with free throws or just a foul called. She's continuing to fight through them.'

The No. 1 overall draft pick said it wasn't 'a basketball play' but she has to 'play through it'

'I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions,' Carter said at the podium following the game

Clark, for her part, told reporters, 'That's just not a basketball play but I've got to play through it, that's what basketball is about at this level.'

Carter, however, refused to address the incident or reveal what prompted her to lash out at her opponent.

'I ain't answering no Caitlin Clark questions,' she said of the No. 1 draft pick in a postgame press conference.

Clark, who shot 4-for-11 from the field, finished with 11 points, and the Fever will attempt to record their first set of consecutive wins this season when they face the Liberty on Sunday at Barclays Center.
